The Many Daughters of Afong Moy, by Jamie Ford

“The New York Times Bestselling Author of … Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweetreturns with a powerful exploration of the love that binds one family across the generation.  Dorothy Moy, through an experimental treatment… intimately connects with past generation of women in her family: Faye Moy, a nurse in China serving with the Flying Tigers; Zoe Moy, a student in England at a famous school with no rules; Lai King Moy, a girl quarantined in San Francisco during a plague epidemic; Greta Moy, a tech executive with a unique dating app; and Afong Moy, the first Chinese woman to set foot in America.

Host: Megan Richards

December’s Reading Group meeting has moved to Wednesday the 6th of December, at 7pm, with Megan Richardson gracefully hosting at her home close to the Merode metro stop.

We often share a meal together while sharing views on the book-of-the-month.

And secondarily, good reads we have enjoyed.  All contributions to the conversation are welcome!

Book club guidelines/criteria : This book club is comprised of members of the American Women’s Club of Brussels, the American Club of Brussels, and the Canadian Club of Belgium. We look for American or Canadian authors, available for purchase in shops or online, not more than 300-400 pages, and have a preference for those that have a score of at least 4/5 on Goodreads.  The books do not have to be recent, they can also be ones you loved that we might have missed.  We meet on the second Wednesday of the month in the evening, from 7pm to 9pm, either at a host’s home or a restaurant, in the greater Brussels area.
