Expo - Considering Plants and the Question of Extinction

The Meise Botanical Gardens has an expo currently featuring artwork from our member, Janise Yntema:  Considering Plants and the Question of Extinction.  The Expo is running through September 17th and Janise will kindly give a tour to AWCB members who wish to join her there on:

September 12 from 13:00 - 15:00

Inspired by botanical classification systems of the 17th and 18th century, as well as 19th century daguerreotypes, Janise creates portraits of red listed species using the ancient hot wax technique of beeswax encaustic painting.  This brings awareness to the beauty and sentience of the variety of critically endangered or extinct plants on the red list index.

If you register, then Janise will meet you at the ticket booth of the Meise Botanical Gardens at 13:00.  There is a small registration fee to join with the AWCB group of either 3 or 5 Euros depending on if you are a member or not.  

Then you need buy a ticket for the Meise Botanical Gardens at the entrance which costs 12 Euros.  It is also possible to buy your ticket online on their website.  However, tickets are free for Museum Pass holders.

Afterwards Janise will also visit a nearby cafe where they have a lovely lavender cake, you are welcome to follow her there as well, and discuss the artworks you viewed!
