BSO Concert: The Bernsteins: Leonard & Elmer

On 18th June at 19.30 the Bruocsella concludes a full, post-Covid, concert season. To celebrate, they will present an upbeat programme at the CC Warandepoort in Tervuren featuring the wonderful music of the two Bernsteins, Leonard and Elmer.

Although there is no family relationship, both men were children of Ukrainian immigrants who settled in New York City. Leonard Bernstein made his career on the east coast composing and serving as the principal conductor of the New York Philharmonic. Elmer found a career on the west coast, composing primarily for film and television.

• Elmer B - Guitar Concerto for Two Christophers
• Elmer B - Theme from The Great Escape
• Leonard B - On the Waterfront Suite

The performance of Elmer Bernstein’s Guitar Concerto for Two Christophers will be the Belgian premiere. BSO is thrilled to have master guitarist, Maarten Vandenbemden, as soloist.
