Are you interested in zero-waste gift wrapping and need inspiration on how to wrap boxes, bottles, laptops, books, yoga mats, and other gifts?
Then come discover the little-known craft of furoshiki wrapping, the Japanese art of skillfully wrapping goods and products with cloth and master the basic techniques while learning elegant and unique wrapping styles.
In this online activity, you will learn along with expert instructor, Isabelle Deven and try your hand at making basic furoshiki knots and styles, useful for everything from bottles to handbags. Plus, as you create, your instructor will also talk about this handy art form's long past and eco-friendly future.
You will need the following items:
-One large flexible square fabric of approximately 85x85cm
-One small square flexible fabric of approximately 45x45cm
Please keep in mind that if the fabric is not flexible enough it will be more difficult to make the folds and knots
- One box the size of a shoe box
- Two small books of about the same size
- Two bottles (75cl or 1l)
- A few branches, herbs, thyme twigs or small flowers from the garden: this serves to give a delicate touch to the packaging.
Zoom link will be emailed to registrant after payment is made.
