PROJECT LINA is named after long-time AWCB member Nancy Evans’ daughter, Lina. When Lina passed away suddenly five years ago, Nancy partnered with Lina’s previous employer and with a local charity, Nativitas, to sponsor summer activities for under-privileged children in Brussels.
The children are encouraged to participate in activities that they would normally not have the opportunity to try: circus, cooking, dance, adventure, science and nature, as well as all sorts of sports. Without financial help, none of these children would be able to experience these activities. They would be spending the summer at home, often in a very small living space, with little to do.
Thanks to Lina’s project, these children can discover new horizons. Originally intended as a one time event, it was so successful that it is now an on-going effort.
In this HOPE Spotlight session, Nancy will give us more insight into how the project works and who benefits from it. Please join us to learn more about Project Lina and how you can make a difference.
Please register for the event in advance. A zoom link will be sent in a reminder email on the day before the meeting. Any questions? Please contact Kelly@awcb.org.
This is the second spotlight (of what will hopefully be many) on organizations that are part of the AWCB’s HOPE program.
