Valentine's Virtual Wine Tasting

The  American Women's Association of Rome is hosting a Valentine's Virtual Wine Tasting on 2/14/21 @ 5 PM

** Participants provide their own wine from the list of recommendations below **

In honor honor of Valentine's Day will we learn and taste from the following.

First, we will start with pink bubbles by sampling a brut rosé.

• Franciacorta (suggested producers: Ricci Curbastro, Contadi Castaldi, Castello Bonomi, Berlucchi)
• Trentino DOC (suggested producers: Ferrari, Altemasi, Endrizzi, Letrari, Cesarini Sforza, Maso Martis)
• Oltrepo Pavesi (suggested producers: Isimbarda, Monsupello, Cantine I Gessi,)
• Puglia (suggested producers: Leone di Castris, D'Arapri, Carvinea)
• Sicily (suggested producers: Murgo, Terrazze dell'Etna)
• Lombardia (suggested producers: Conti Thun, Ca' dei Frati)

Second, we will explore a heart-warming red.

• Cannonau from Sardegna (suggested producers: Giuseppe Sedilesu, Antichi Poderi Jerzu, Mesa, Argiolas)
• Salice Salentino Riserva from Puglia (suggested producers: Leone di Castris, Cantine Due Palme, Tenute Al Bano Carrisi)
• Offida Rosso from Marche (suggested producers: Tenuta de Angelis, Aurora)
• Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Riserva (suggested producers: Masciarelli, Zaccagnini, Illuminati, Nicodemi)
• Montefalco Sagrantino from Umbria (suggested producers: Lungarotti, Caprai, Tabarrini, Antonelli San Marco)
• Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso from Veneto (suggested producers: Zenato, Speri, Bertrani, Masi, Tedeschi)

Third, we will finish with a sweet wine.

• Recioto from Veneto (any) -- needs to be at room temp, this is red based
• Brachetto from Piemonte (any) -- needs to be cold, this is sparkling
• Occhio del Pernice from Tuscany -- needs to be room temp, also red based
• I Capitelli Passito from Anselmi in Veneto -- chilled
