On Tuesday, February 11th, we gathered for a visit to the Museum of European History. Our guide, Hans Torrekens, gave us an excellent tour and explained in detail how the museum came about and the great artifacts it holds. Afterwards we enjoyed a delicious lunch at nearby Positano.

In case you were unable to attend, you can always visit the museum on your own. Just check the opening hours on their website, it is free of charge. A guide can be requested for a group of at least 10 people.

The joint anniversary event of the American Women's Club of Brussels (AWCB) and the American Club of Brussels (ACB) was held at the US Embassy in Brussels on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.  It was an unforgettable cocktail party to celebrate both clubs' special milestones!

The event, hosted by Ambassador Adler and Mrs. Adler, was held in the beautiful Whitlock Hall and adjoining atrium of their Residence. The food and champagne were enjoyed by all guests for several hours. The delicious champagne was specially created and labeled for the AWCB by Champagne maker Chardonnet & Fils in Avize, France. We have had special commemorative labels made for the AWCB 75th anniversary which are on sale on our website:  Order here

Ambassador Adler welcomed everyone to the event and spoke about the history of the clubs and the importance of both in Belgium. Florence Liebel Jeannin, President of the AWCB, spoke about the history and activities of the AWCB. Jan Allen, as a representative of the ACB, spoke about the long history of the ACB in Belgium and its activities.

The American Women’s Club of Brussels (AWCB) was proudly represented at the St. John’s International School Open Day in Waterloo. Florence and Kristen, two dedicated members of our community, took the lead in showcasing what AWCB is all about to prospective families and visitors.

The open day was a vibrant and bustling event, filled with families eager to learn more about the school’s offerings and local community connections. Florence and Kristen set up an inviting AWCB stand, where they engaged with attendees, shared our mission, and highlighted the numerous social, cultural, and charitable opportunities that AWCB offers.

We are thrilled to have been a part of such an inspiring event, forging new connections and spreading the word about AWCB’s role in the international community in Brussels. A big thank you to St. John’s International School for hosting such a well-organized and welcoming open day, and to Florence and Kristen for their fantastic representation of the club!

The AWCB community gathered for a night of fun and friendly competition at The Bowl Factory in Braine l'Alleud for our very first Monthly Bowling Evening. The event was a fantastic way to unwind, socialize, and showcase some hidden bowling talent!

Members of all skill levels joined in—from first-time bowlers to seasoned pros. It was an evening filled with laughter, high-fives, and a few memorable strikes and spares. The lanes were buzzing with excitement as participants cheered each other on, making it a truly warm and welcoming environment for everyone.

Along with the bowling action, attendees enjoyed great conversations, refreshments, and, of course, plenty of friendly competition. The top bowlers of the night were celebrated with bragging rights (and perhaps a little envy), but everyone left feeling like a winner.

A huge thanks to everyone who came out to make this evening such a success. It was a perfect reminder of what makes the AWCB community so special—fun, friendship, and shared experiences.

If you missed this one, don’t worry—our Monthly Bowling Evening is here to stay! Keep an eye on the AWCB calendar for our next event, and come join the fun next time.

Until then, keep practicing your strikes!

On 26 June 2024, AWCB members gathered at Galeria Solis for a delightful event featuring the talented artist and US Fulbright scholar, Olga Slavkina.

Olga, a gifted artist with a renowned gallery in La Hulpe, graciously hosted us for a "talk and tour" of her captivating painting and sculpture collections. The event was nothing short of fantastic, offering a lovely and eye-opening experience for all who attended.

The evening was filled with inspiration and camaraderie, as we explored the imaginal world of Uslada together. Olga’s insights and artistic vision left a lasting impression on everyone, making it a truly memorable outing.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this wonderful event! We look forward to many more enriching experiences together.

The USA needs overseas Americans to play their part in the nationwide elections in Autumn 2024. If you have not already registered to vote/requested a ballot, do it now. Voting from overseas is a lot like taking a test in school: doing it requires us to follow the instructions of our states very carefully. In addition. our “election year” is only a little over nine months long. We can’t register before January 1 and we generally need to send our ballots back to the US in early October, a month before the domestic Election Day, to be sure that they meet state deadlines. Please see the full article for detailed instructions on what you and your club can do.
