Dear {Contact_First_Name},

Fall has enveloped us with its warm embrace, and our AWCB calendar is a reflection of the bustling energy of the season, filled with exciting activities and events. As always, our dedicated board has been hard at work, meticulously planning for a new year brimming with engaging and inspirational gatherings, offering all of us the chance to strengthen our connections.

September graced us with an enchanting journey to Normandy. Florence and Cécile, cherished long standing members, opened their hearts and their historic family château, Val Richer, in France to AWCB members. Over four magical days, we explored the charming region of Normandy, with Florence as our personal guide. The privilege of staying at Val Richer and sharing this experience as a group created lasting memories that we will forever hold dear. A heartfelt "Merci mil fois" to Florence & Cécile!

October has been a whirlwind of activity, Halloween Crafts & Treats for Kids, American and Canadian Reading Group meetings, lunch at The Nine followed by a session on Chinese holistic medicine at The Nine, Chit-Chat & More, and a heartwarming Hearts for Hope Pillow meeting, followed by a delightful luncheon that marked the launch of our Angel Tree program at All Saints Church.

As we dive further into this month, I encourage you to stay informed about all the exciting happenings at AWCB by referring to our calendar and keeping an eye on email announcements.

I'd like to draw your attention to the AWCB Angel Tree Program. Since 2008, AWCB has been dedicated to Angel Tree, providing between 250-350 Saint Nicholas gifts annually to children in need right here in Brussels. This year, our club is sponsoring over 300 children from four charities. I urge you to contribute in any way you can, be it by sponsoring a child and selecting a gift or making a monetary donation. For more information, please visit awcb.org/angeltree.

Touching lives and helping those in need lies at the heart of AWCB, and your support has been instrumental in our continued success. A heartfelt Thank You to all for your unwavering commitment to our endeavors.

Autumn gifts us abundance and opportunity, much like the leaves that turn to gold. In this season of change, may you find treasures and fulfillment. I eagerly anticipate reuniting with all of you soon.

Wishing you warmth and joy in this beautiful season.

Happy Autumn!

Our members spent 4 magical days a the château and with Florence as their personal guide visited, Honfleur, Omaha Beach, The Normandy American Cemetery, The D-day Museum, a local apple cider/calvados distillery, Bayeux, Liseaux and many more highlights in Normandy. It was a memorable experience that our members will always treasure.

AWCB & ACB Members Enjoy Impromptu Dinner Delight

Spontaneity and friendship came together as AWCB & ACB members Frederique, Luis, and Karolina joined Lorraine for an impromptu dinner in October. This delightful gathering emerged when an AWCB event was postponed, and they met at a new Mexican restaurant in Ixelles, highly recommended by Frederique.

Frederique has lived in Ixelles for over 30 years, not only shared her local expertise but also has an exciting club event in the works. It's moments like these that remind us of the bonds we share within our club.

A heartfelt thank you to Frederique for orchestrating this memorable evening! Cheers to the wonderful connections and experiences that make our community special. 🌮🥂

AWCB Angel Tree Luncheon

At our recent Angel Tree Kick-Off Luncheon, we were privileged to have Phil Lane, Executive Director of Oasis Belgium, as our guest speaker. Phil eloquently conveyed the significance of the Angel Tree program and the life-changing impact that Saint Nicholas gifts bring to the children and families Oasis Belgium supports.

The spirit of giving was alive in the room as 83 Angel Tree children found sponsors among our guests, making their holiday season brighter. Furthermore, the proceeds from the luncheon were generously donated to the Angel Tree cause, reinforcing our commitment to making a difference.

AWCB  Hearts for Hope

The dedicated AWCB Hearts for Hope pillow ladies gathered once again In October, uniting their creative spirit to craft beautiful, handcrafted pillows. These pillows are a source of comfort for patients recovering from breast cancer surgery and are donated, free of charge, to UZ Leuven and Bordet hospitals.

You can be a part of this heartwarming initiative. AWCB provides all the necessary supplies, but donations of 100% cotton fabric are always appreciated. No sewing experience is required - you can contribute by cutting, tracing, stuffing, stitching, or even helping set up for lunch after the gathering.

Breast Cancer Awareness Day

AWCB members, Florence, Marianne & Mich attended the Erasme hospital in Anderlecht to participate in the Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the hospital. They met with patients, staff members and OBGYN students and displayed the beautiful pillows made with love that are donated to breast cancer patients at Bordet hospital by AWCB Hearts for Hope. Halloween fun at American Groceries Europe for the 3rd year in a row! The event was on Saturday (October 7th) and Sunday (October 8th). Kids got to do a Halloween Crafts and left with a treat. Adults had socialized, shopped and also got crafty.

On October 10th the AWCB had a club lunch at The Nine with 15 ladies and as usual, a great time was had by all!

The food was great as usual and we all enjoyed sitting in the beautiful dining area of the building.  After lunch, members walked around to explore the lovely decor and a few stayed for our presentation on Chinese holistic wellness, and others relaxed over a drink with friends.

Grateful for such a lovely and peaceful evening!
