Welcome to the spring edition of the Rendez-vous. I know that the days have been cold and gray...

...but if you look close, you can see the beginning of the buds on trees and flowers. I saw at least one! And the daylight is starting to last just a little longer. Lots of new things are happening at AWCB as well.

We recently celebrated the life of Becky Levy in the first of our ABA, Cameo of Heroes program. Becky is a long time AWCB member, a survivor of the violence of war and has a fascinating history. I applaud the initiative of Mary Armendariz and her committee to bring this series to our Club. There are more interviews to come -- they are in the planning stage and will be announced soon -- but all will be equally moving.

In addition, the Clubhouse itself is undergoing many changes. Over the past several months, you’ve probably noticed the work and renovations. The Clubhouse structure sustained serious water damage, and upon investigation it was discovered that there was quite a bit of work to be done. The renovations are still in progress but there is an end in sight to the construction and disruption. Thanks to all of our members and guests for your patience during construction!!

If you haven’t been into the Clubhouse lately, there are a lot of reasons to make a visit. We also have a new reception desk! It has been custom built to the specific requirements of the front desk volunteers and provides a fabulous new look to our entry. We also have a new art gallery on the first floor featuring well-established artists from around Europe. Finally, don’t forget about the spa on the third floor, which offers manicures, pedicures and other services.

So come in and see the progress to our renovations and the new changes for yourself. You will not be sorry!
