AWCB Goes to Bastogne!

Join the AWCB on a weekend visit to the town of Bastogne, famous Battle of the Bulge site. Bastogne is about two hours away from Brussels by car. Please note this is a Members (and their guests) and Partner Club only event - so consider applying for AWCB membership!
The Battle of the Bulge started December 16th 1944 until end of January 1945. Relatives of tour leader (and AWCB member) Marianne Hubert were living in Bastogne during the battle and she has family stories about civilian life that she will share with us during a walking tour in town. This historical excursion would not be complete without visits to local museums/memorials. Join us to learn about the battle against Hitler's last great offensive and the stubborn defence that stopped it.
There are TWO Tickets Available: Weekend Ticket and Saturday Day Ticket. Please read info below before selection.
The Weekend Ticket price includes:
- Room for one night (single and double occupancy available)
- Dinner at the Bastogne Nord Restaurant (in the hotel).
- Buffet Breakfast
- Entry to Bastogne War Museum and memorials
- Guided tour from our very own Marianne, a former resident and enthusiastic expert War Tour Guide
If you are staying in a double room and bringing a guest who is staying with you, please book the double room. If however you wish to bring a guest who wants their own room, please contact chris@awcb.org and we will make the booking manually for you.
Very limited number of rooms; please book fast to ensure your attendance!
The Saturday Day Ticket includes:
- Saturday night Dinner at the Bastogne Nord Restaurant (in the hotel).
- Entrance to any museums on Saturday are NOT included in the price and must be purchased on site by the attendee.

AGENDA (schedule may change)
Saturday
- 12 Noon: Meet at the Bastogne War Museum, Musée de la Guerre
5 Colline du Mardasson, 6600 Bastogne. 5 euro parking fee payable upon exit. The museum cafeteria does offer light lunches - not included in ticket.
- 12:30: Museum attendance begins. The weather will determine whether we start with outdoor memorial or inside the museum.
- Stop at the Augusta Chiwy Memorial with easy parking.
- Check into the Leo Hotel (parking instructions will be emailed)
- Dinner at the Bastogne Nord Restaurant (in the hotel).
Sunday
- 8:30 am Buffet Breakfast
- Hotel checkout (prepaid for attendees)
- Walking Guided tour from our very own Marianne.
- Walk to 101st museum (former Gestapo bldg). Please note the 12 euro entrance fee is not included in either ticket type.
- Entry to Bastogne War Museum and memorials (the museum ticket with the full weekend package is good for 2 days if you wish to return)
